J. V. Ohlemeyer was a retired higher education fundraiser who had been making pictures for more than forty years. During the last ten years of his life, he pursued nature photography full time and made the transition from film to digital imaging.
Jim passed away peacefully at his Sherwood, MD home, in May, 2015 after a brief illness. This virtual show celebrates his work and his life, especially the last six years in the holly woods he loved.
A permanent resident of the area since 2007, Jim and his wife, Anne Moran, moved from Southern California to Sherwood, MD. There, Jim found the perfect home for his photographic inspiration. The couple was attracted to the Eastern Shore by the sense of history and the timeless, natural beauty of the area. Moran & Ohlemeyer have traveled to four continents, as well as extensively throughout the U.S., to capture photographic images.
Enduring Images, a very apt title for this memorial collection is dedicated to Jim, and to Anne for keeping his memory alive through the preservation and publication of his work on the Chesapeake and in some of his favorite spots worldwide.
