Day 1

The big news here at Chesapeake International Arts is that the web site is up (if you are reading this you know that!) and we are open. Thank you for stopping by!

We are now signing up artists from all disciplines for the Regional Online Artist Directory. For individual artists and ensembles, bands, groups, troups, of all kinds, that means having a new, dynamic, affordable, and most of all professional, web presence, often for the first time. Or, it can supplement your existing site, with reciprocal links.

The idea of a single web site, with individual pages for each artist is not new.  It is even less new in the world of general commerce.  There is chamber of commerce software, used by cities, to list local businesses with individual pages, all on one site.  I have found what I will call "aggregated" sites for diverse as safari and game reserves to cartoonists!  In fact, our strategic partner, Independent Web Marketing, built those sites and hundreds more. However, this is probably the first site devoted to artists of every discipline and genre, in one geographic area, designed to promote all artists and to assist those who would hire and present them, to find them all in one place.

Future blogs will share arts news of interest, I hope, but at the very least it will be news that I consider of significant impact or vision.  No politics or petitions here.  I encourage action, but each to his or her own.

We have adopted the acronym ROAD from, and for, our Regional Online Artists Directory.  Once you take your own "act" on the ROAD, encourage your fellow artists to get "out there" on the ROAD, too.  The more we grow our numbers, the more beneficial it will be to those who are looking for artists to use it as their "go-to" resource.  Meanwhile, you can have your own page, instead of a full site (unless you want one -we do that very well) at a fraction of the cost, with your own unique URL to use in all your own promotion.  More about that here.
